A brave Labrador Retriever battles a mountain lion to save two kids and keep the family safe.
According to KSLTV News, a Labrador dog in Cedar Hills, Utah, fought off a mountain lion on July 19 in order to preserve its family. The dog survived after suffering terrible injuries.
As Crystal Michaelis’s children played in the backyard, Ella, a 7-year-old yellow Lab, watched the mountain lion. Michaelis didn’t see the mountain lion, but she did notice Ella behaving strangely and dividing her focus between the kids and the mountain lion’s hiding place.

She kept staring in the direction of the children before swiftly looking away, Michaelis remarked. Despite the fact that she was merely being cautious, my child found it to be extremely worrisome.
After some delay, Michaelis took her kids inside. As they approached the patio door, Ella’s head, face, legs, tongue, and neck had all suffered significant cuts. When we opened the back door, Ella was covered in blood. “There was blood all over the entrance and the terrace,” Michaelis remarked.

Although the family was not present during the battle, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources authorities found mountain lion footprints that led to the location.
Wildlife officials believe the mountain lion may have wandered too close to the Michaelis’ home after getting distracted by some nearby goats in a neighbor’s yard.

Even though the mountain lion has not been seen recently, the Utah DWR has warned residents to be cautious and safe. Considering that deer are cougars’ primary source of food, Faith Jolley, a DWR public relations officer, claims that cougars frequently follow deer wherever they go. Deer have been seen passing through this area, she added.
Ella was bit more than 30 times in total, always beginning at the shoulders. Which suggests she never gave up and continued to stand guard over it, Michaelis told the press. Ella is expected to recover well despite her injuries.
